Best Authentic Caribbean and West African Cuisine of the DMV
Good Homestyle Island Cooking Served Right in Your Neighborhood
As the Sierra Leone runs through my blood, I can testify that no other venue in the DMV cooks and serves Cassava Leaves better than Chef Mosada at Sweet Kitchen. If you wanna try local good food, try here first! ~ Certified Flirts, local guide.

Caribbean and West African cuisine is a unique combination of African, Cajun, Creole, Amerindian, Latin American, and Middle Eastern cultures. It is as unique in its taste as it is as rich in its history.
The most common ingredients used are rice, plantains, beans, cassava, tomatoes, chickpeas, cilantro, and coconut along with various meats such as poultry, fish, pork, and beef. Spices such as coriander, ginger, and thyme are used sparingly but knowingly giving the dishes a very distinct flavor and appeal. Chili peppers add delicious flavor and just the right amount of heat to these delicious and memorable dishes.
Sweet Sweet Kitchen is DMV’s best kept secret. Located in the heart of downtown Silver Spring, Maryland, it is a place that will give you that “island” kind of feeling. They deliver mouth-watering Caribbean and West African food that is not only delicious and authentic but will also make your taste buds sing.
I eat at this restaurant often and can attest to the quality and goodness of their dishes. What I love most, is the “home-like” environment and “feel” of the food. It reminds me of that favorite aunt or relative that can cook – food that was cooked straight from the comfort of their own kitchen. And the taste and aroma…oh my goodness!
Sweet Sweet Kitchen also gives you value for your money. The portion sizes are enough to eat some for lunch and then save some to eat later for dinner. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant.
