What is an Elegant Modern-Vintage Woman?

More Than Fashion

An elegant modern-vintage woman is more than fashion. She is beautiful from the inside out. She is confident without being rude, kind without being weak, and bold without being arrogant. Her kindness and beauty are reflected in her soul.

An elegant modern-vintage woman loves being a woman with all the rights and responsibilities that come with it. She is comfortable in her skin and does not seek attention or validation from others. She walks in confidence, and her presence alone demands respect, for she is an authentic woman who is always true to God first in Christ Jesus and then to herself.

This type of woman always looks her best, even when no one else is around. She has the innate ability and keen eye to blend timeless pieces of the past decades with modern clothing; she is drawn to elegance. Whether it is vintage-style pieces or true vintage fashion purchased from a thrift store, clothing is a work of art to this woman, and she knows how to create a masterpiece, even with limited resources.

An elegant modern-vintage woman brings beauty to the world without sacrificing her Christianity or her self-respect.

Simply put, she's the epitome of class, elegance, grace, integrity, modesty, and most importantly, LOVE.

As a modern-vintage woman, you always want to be prepared. Below, you find ten basic items you need in your wardrobe so that no matter the occasion, you can put together an elegant outfit within minutes!

  1. A black dress; You have heard this before, and now I am saying it. Every elegant woman should own at least one simple black dress. I prefer the sheath dress, but you should select one that reflects your unique personality and style. Your dress must be elegant and modest. A black dress is versatile; you can wear it alone with a string of pearls to dinner, or style it with a blazer for a business setting.

Pick a black dress that flatters your body type and reflects your unique personality.

  2. A fitted or nice blazer: A well-tailored blazer is elegant and classy, instantly slimming any figure for a polished and modest look. It can be mixed and matched with other basic items (skirts, dress slacks, shorts, jeans, and dresses) depending on the event. You can also wear the blazer with your sheath dress from tip number one above!

  3. An elegant blouse: A white blouse adds a touch of elegance to any outfit. For a nice silhouette, select one that tapers in at the waist. Wrapped blouses are feminine, soft, and elegant, and can be worn with a pair of jeans or a skirt. You should keep several white blouses: lace, satin, and cotton, depending on the weather and the occasion. To maintain modesty, please wear a camisole underneath your blouse, especially if the neckline is too low.

  4. A pencil skirt: Have at least one pencil skirt in your closet. The hem should fall at the knee. A pencil skirt can look good on any body type. Please use this guide when selecting a pencil skirt: For an hourglass & curvy figure, choose a skirt that has a high waist to accentuate your waist and curves. For an athletic & straight figure, choose a pencil skirt with subtle details such as pockets, peplums, pleats, or a strong taper that will give the illusion of curves. For petite women, opt for a pencil skirt with a high waist that hits right above the knee, elongating the legs. For a pear shape, while an A-line skirt is often recommended, a pencil skirt can work by balancing your wider hips with a tucked-in blouse. For an apple-shaped figure, a high-waisted pencil skirt can create definition and balance for you. You should choose a style that sits at your natural waist to de-emphasize your midsection.

  5. A twin set: This duo combination combines a sweater or cardigan with a knit top or dress, creating an elegant, chic, and carefree look. This ensemble is perfect to wear on a spring or summer day to a wedding, a lunch in the park, to church, or on a date. You should aim to have at least three sets in different colors to rotate with one another and with your blouses and skirts!

  6. A sweater or cardigan: A nice cardigan, like a blazer, can add elegance and style to any outfit. They are versatile and can be worn with shorts, jeans, skirts, or a dress.

  7. A pair of basic black dress shoes: You should have a basic black pair of pumps or flats in your wardrobe staple. They are versatile and can be used on any occasion. I also like to keep a pair of nude heels in my shoe arsenal to wear with warmer colors.

  8. An elegant dress coat: When the season permits, there is nothing more elegant than a beautiful dress coat. I love a princess cut or a shawl wrap. Adding a matching handbag in the same color will turn heads! If you are looking for a touch of glamour, a trench coat will do the trick, and it can also double as a raincoat.

  9. A structured handbag: You need an elegant, versatile purse. It can go from work to dinner. It will also go with many different outfits! If you like leather, as I do, try to buy from a reputable dealer who uses leather from the by-product of food and dairy (cruelty-free). Another option is to buy vegan leather goods.

  10. Dress gloves: I believe an elegant woman should always have dress gloves in her purse. They help you look more modest, polished, and well-put together.

Something for you to pray about and consider is wearing a head covering when you're out and about. From ancient times, women of God have worn head coverings as a sign of modesty and reverence for the Lord. Again, I ask that you pray to God about this subject, as it is a personal matter for each woman. Additional Tips

Please keep jewelry to a minimum. Pearls are always elegant and go with anything! However, due to the animal cruelty techniques used on pearl farms, I strongly advise buying imitation pearls and not real ones (unless you can find an ethical dealer). If you are not a pearl girl, you can buy a nice pair of gold, silver, or diamond studs or cubic zirconia earrings, whichever will fit your budget.

Keep nails well-groomed at all times; nothing looks worse than scraggly, unkept nails. A clear polish does wonders at the last moment. It looks natural and feminine. And never go overboard with the perfume! Remember, less is more, and there is beauty in simplicity!

Summing it All Up!

An elegant vintage-modern wardrobe doesn’t have to cost you a fortune. Knowing how to shop for the right pieces of garments and what to match together is the key.

If you like high-quality items, as I do, then watch and wait for the sales from your favorite stores. I have bought dresses worth hundreds of dollars for a fraction of the cost. This goes for high-end shoes as well.

So, there you have it!

And remember, ladies, true elegance and beauty come from within.💋
