Elegance does not catch the eye. It stays in the memory. - Giorgio Armani
Picture this:
You are lounging around enjoying your day off when suddenly you get a text or call from your significant other, “Can you be ready in ten minutes? I forgot I have an important business dinner to attend, and I would love for you to join me. Is that okay?”
Panic sweeps over you as you stare out into space and traces of coffee dribble down your chin. “Sure!” You respond, “I would love to accompany you!”
You dash to your closet in despair hoping you can pull together a last-minute outfit by the time your partner arrives to collect you.
I have had this scenario play out many times and I can tell you that having these eight fashion staples on hand not only saved the day, but also made me look well-polished, confident, and naturally put together for even the most formal event.
Here are eight items every elegant woman should own:

Sheath dress – This is a must have! (See photo above.) Sheath dresses are versatile and can be worn all year long. You can pair them with a matching cardigan, blazer, or shawl. They can be dressed up with heels or down with flats. Job interview? No problem. Black-tie event? No problem. Business dinner? No problem. A sheath dress has you covered! Just remember to steer clear of tacky prints and flashy patterns. Solid colors are always best.
Basic pair of heels or pumps – Heels instantly make you appear more elegant, sophisticated, and classy. They can even dress up a pair of jeans or slacks with the right blouse or top. I like to keep a variety of styles in black, nude, and metallic, depending on the season. I also like to pack a dressy pair of flats in my handbag just in case we end up going somewhere else that requires a lot of walking.
Fitted Blazer – A fitted blazer will give you a professional look and add elegance to any outfit. If you can, buy one in basic black, brown or chocolate, and white.
Pearls – Everything goes with pearls, and you can never go wrong wearing them. Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but pearls are the queen of gems! I own a pair of pearl studs, pearl necklace, and a bracelet. Real ones are nice if you can afford them, but you don’t have to go broke to look elegant. It is said that the former first lady Jackie Kennedy Onassis owned and wore fake pearls. Who knew?
Elegant pantsuit – A nice pantsuit can be worn to dinner, a business or school meeting, and to a job interview, just to name a few. It especially looks nice with your hair pulled back in a neat bun or in an elegant French Twist (See this video on how to do a French Twist in 60 seconds!). When possible, try to accessorize with a matching handbag and heels.
Nice handbag – If you can, invest in a nice-quality handbag. I’m not talking thousands of dollars here either but having a nice-quality handbag, preferably made of leather, can add wonders to your outfit and give you a well-polished and elegant look.
Tube of red lipstick – When you are in a hurry, you may not have time to apply your usual make-up, if you normally wear any at all. A nice shade of red on your lips will instantly add warmth to your face and give your skin a nice glow. You don’t have to wear bright and bold lips either. There are many shades of red for every skin tone and woman. Red lips can empower you and help you to feel and look more glamourous, elegant, and confident!
Thigh High Stockings – I believe in stockings and hosiery. I was raised in them and taught that a lady is never fully dressed without them. I understand a lot of you do not like pantyhose, so I recommend that you try a pair of thigh-high stockings. They are more comfortable to wear, breathable, and you don’t have to worry about unsightly lines or crinkling under your clothes. You look more “polished” in stockings and more complete. Keep in mind, this is just my opinion, but I can tell you this, gentleman prefer a lady in stockings, and I have always nailed my job interviews wearing them. They not only make me feel more confident, but I also feel sexier and more attractive wearing them. Just my two cents, ladies…
So, there you have it. If you keep these items on hand, you will always be ready, elegant, and never caught off guard when having to attend an unplanned event.
Peace, love, and blessings,

Bella's Beauty Tips: Keep nails filed and a bottle of clear nail polish on hand. If you do this, your nails will always look beautiful, natural, and well-groomed. Also, a nice dresscoat will add glamour and elegance to any outfit. I try to keep dresscoats in mulitple colors and pair them with matching gloves, a purse, and a hat. Lastly, try to invest in a signature scent! A nice bottle of perfume is not only worth the splurge, but it also looks so glamourous displayed on your vanity or dresser!
